Welcome to the Biomechanics Research Laboratory (BRL) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
Our theoretical and experimental investigations are aimed at reducing the incidence of unintentional injuries in the population. Apart from the pain and suffering engendered, these injuries cost the U.S. tens of billions of dollars per year. Worse, some of these injuries cause lifelong functional impairments.
Research projects are designed to achieve scientific insights to better prevent these problems in the first place, as well as to train students of all ages in multidisciplinary research.
